We are raised as daddy’s girls in the South and we always remember who spoils us during the holiday season. Of course it is our fathers. I am definitely a daddy’s girl and although my husband spoils me as well, my dad still takes every chance he can to spoil his only daughter. Today I am honored and tickled pink to share a few of these beautiful father daughter holiday photos. “The three things I love most about raising a Black Southern Belle center around traditions, values and style. We are intentional about stressing the importance of maintaining and establishing traditions based upon Sage’s southern roots (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas). Even at four years old, while she’s heavily involved in a number of activities; piano, ballet and tap, swimming, tennis, her third generation membership in Jack and Jill of America is another maintained tradition while our annual trip to Atlanta’s Pink Pig Ride is one we’ve established. We are adamant about raising a grounded person, proud of being African American, a woman and a Southerner. We teach her lesson after lesson about the intrinsic value in those three defining characteristics, but we are careful to remind her that she’s far more than that too, and her definition what it means to be a Black Southern Belle will be uniquely hers, and splendidly so. Sage’s style is one for the ages. It’s amazing to watch her put looks together now, even at 4; her innate sense of confidence and cool is evident in her choices. My wife’s effortlessly flawless approach to Sage’s wardrobe centers around Southern staples, with a dash of sparkle, shimmer and shine. For our fall family shoot this year, we chose tartan looks, and Sage looked just as comfortable in shiny, knee high boots, dark denim and a tartan shirt with her beautifully braided hair as she does in her Easter dresses. I love raising my Black Southern Belle because each day, she redefines the importance of what it means to be one, and the pride and responsibility with which she bears the moniker. “
