What is your favorite thing about being a mom?

My favorite thing about being a mom is being able to create traditions with my son and knowing that I am one of the two people in my son’s life that he will trust and love the most.

What do you love about raising your children in the South?

From the good weather to the good food, raising a child in the south is a privilege. Raising a child in the south teaches life lessons that will follow him forever.

Which do they only eat if you make?

My husband loves my macaroni and cheese dish. Don’t tell his mom but he says that it tastes just like hers.

Why did you choose this location to do the family photo shoot?

We chose our home because we wanted an intimate setting and wanted to capture the real unedited version of us.

What are your favorite lessons to teach your children?

I want our son to know that the sky is not the limit. I want him to go beyond the sky.

What is your favorite southern activity to do with them?

I look forward to taking Mason to his dad’s birthplace of Charleston to experience the southern hospitality, food, and history.

Do you have any favorite restaurants you like to take them?

My husband and I enjoy going to Soby’s, located in downtown Greenville, for Sunday brunch.

What are some of your favorite books you read to them?

I read a lot of bible stories to Mason and stories that were told to me growing up such as the Jungle Book, Pinocchio, and Robin Hood.

Who styled the children for this shoot?

I styled us for the shoot. I used the colors from Mason’s sweater as the inspiration.

What southern values do you hope they inherit as they grow up?

I hope Mason inherit the southern values of hard work and giving back to his community. I pray he never forgets where he comes from.

What advice did you get from your mother on parenting?

I grew up in a single parent home. I watched my mom work day in and day out to provide a life for me. She taught me how to be selfless and work hard for what I want in life. Now that I’m a parent, I will teach my son those same values of hardwork and selflessness.

Where did you get some of the clothing items?

Mason’s sweater, shirt and shoes are from Carter’s and pants are Cat and Jack from Target. My outfit is from New York and Company with Dolce Vita boots. Demetrius shirt is from Target, pants and shoes are from Old Navy.
