Send your save-the-dates at least three months prior to the wedding.
These cards should advise friends & family of your wedding plans and allow them to take your wedding date into consideration when making their own plans. Especially if they live out-of-town and have to plan travel arrangements.
Invitations to a bridal shower are usually informal.
Many bridal showers have gift themes, such as linens, kitchen, travel, lingerie etc. When a shower has a theme, it’s always nice to mention the theme in the lower right-hand corner – so your guests know exactly what to shop for if you aren’t registered!
Rehearsal dinner invitations should be sent two weeks before the wedding.
Traditionally, the event is for the wedding party and close guests who participate in the wedding rehearsal however now, the dinner party can also be bigger events and those invited should get a short notice. And just as the rehearsal dinner should not compete with or upstage the wedding, the rehearsal dinner invitations, should complement – but not match – the wedding invitations.
Keep nicknames and middle name initials off formal wedding invitations.
When in doubt, list the name as printed on the individual’s birth certificate.
The wedding invitations should be sent four to six weeks before the wedding
They should mention where exactly the wedding will be held. Whether a garden, a barn or the beach – this will help your guests plan their footwear.
