Patriotic Holiday Decor: Reconstruction Era Holiday Theme

Patriotic Holiday Decor: Reconstruction Era Holiday Theme

I used to work in Washington, DC and met my husband there while I was a lobbyist and so was he so DC will always have a special place in our hearts. With my husbands new found love of holiday decor, (mainly my obsession forcing him to participate) we decided to use this inspiration for our holiday decor. One of my favorite era’s of history is the Reconstruction era shortly after the Civil War, where a large number of African Americans became newly elected US senators, congressman, Lt. governors and more. To honor this era we decorated our library room for the holidays. Explore our library room patriotic holiday decor with a Reconstruction Era Holiday Theme. Patriotic Holiday Decor: Reconstruction Era Holiday Theme

This is one of my favorite books. Definitely a great ready to learn about Lousiana history.
I am pretty much obsessed with gallery wall especially the black matted print that I got made on Framebridge.
I decided to mix modern and traditional style for this gallery wall with a focus on using black, white and gold.
We decided to use a patriotic and preppy theme for this holiday tree with ornaments we have collected throughout the year.
Don’t be afraid to add in different types of ornaments to a classic tree, we used red, white gold and blue ornaments for a fun holiday style.
I adore this red, white and blue tree skirt we found at Belk.com
Many HBCUs were founded and flourished during the reconstruction era and I am obsessed with the Black America Series photo book collection. I buy them in every city I visit.
