Mississippi Love with a Rustic Style

Mississippi Love with a Rustic Style 30

Mississippi brides know how to plan weddings and NaToya’s wedding is a great example of that. NaToya and Joey are a Mississippi born and bred couple that exudes what it means to have southern love. This beautiful couple wed last December in a rustic themed Mississippi wedding. Not only was their wedding classically southern and elegant but it was also fun! This wedding matches this couple perfectly and we are so honored to showcase their love and special day. We wish them nothing but happiness and years of beautiful memories as they enjoy married life!

How did you meet?

At a spring football game–Davis Wade Stadium on the campus of Mississippi State University. Our sisters actually orchestrated the entire thing.

How long did you date?

2 years

How did he propose?

It was 8.6.13, my birthday. Joey is a football coach so of course, they practice until late in the evening. When I got home from work, he called to tell me that he was coming home early and we had dinner reservations. Naturally, I was excited! When we got to the restaurant, there was no one there. I kept rushing him to eat, thinking they were waiting on us to close. After about an hour, someone came from the back singing “happy birthday”. I turned around to see that it was my brother-in-law. When I turned back around, I saw Joey on one knee! I don’t remember much after this, but I’m assuming he asked me to marry him and apparently I said YES! haha

When did you know he was the one?

The day that we met–April 8, 2011

What is the cutest thing he has done for you without you asking?

I’m a very simple person–not hard to please–small things make a big impact on my life. Joey will go to the store and bring me back my favorite candy bar, my favorite drink or my favorite bag of chips. Yes, it may seem insignificant to you, but it means a lot to me and that’s one of the many reasons I love him.

What is something you love about him that has completely changed your life?

His patience! I will fly off the handle and Joey is super kind and patient. I thank God for the balance! He has definitely taught me how to stay sane and calm in tense situations.

What part of wedding planning is making you crazy?

People!! Haha–but seriously…dealing with RSVPs drove me nuts.

What part of wedding planning could you not live without?

Dressing Shopping!!!

What was your first thought the day after your engagement?

Did this really happen? Am I about to be a wife?

What was your favorite part about the ceremony?

From the beginning, Joey and I envisioned our wedding day as a day full of love, surrounded by our closest family and friends….and it was just that.

What was your favorite part about the wedding?

Do I have to pick just one? I absolutely LOVED our venue and our theme. The entire rustic look was by far, the best choice.

What do you love about Mississippi weddings?

Well, I won’t say the heat (haha). Mississippi is called the hospitality state for a reason. Family, food and fellowship.

What was your favorite item of food on your menu?

Popcorn bar!

Did you do any DIY? If so, what?

No. Bless those of you that have the patience and creativity!

What were your wedding colors?

Navy Blue and Gray

What was your wedding theme?

Rustic/Vintage

What is your favorite part about being married to each other?

Waking up each day to the man of my dreams.

What did you learn about each other through the wedding planning process?

I’m sure he learned that I am extremely organized and meticulous when it comes to planning and making decisions. I learned that he wants me to give him 2-3 options vs 5-6. There were some things that he cared about, but he relied heavily on my opinion.

I love everything about this wedding–especially the navy blue dresses! Completely underused color for weddings, but it pops!
