Tradition, family, and hobbies are just a few attributes that connect ourselves to our Southern roots. Whether it’s becoming grilling pitmasters, replicating Southern flavors, or having a Southern upbringing, these qualities overall shape the way in which we create. 

We say this to say that these qualities are also the way in which BBQ sauces are created and formed for our liking. Therefore, we have created a list of 10 Black-Owned BBQ sauces with Southern roots that have an understanding, flavor pallet, and passion for Southern cuisine. 

  1. Honey Bear’s Barbeque 

Regular or spicy, Honeys Bear’s BBQ sauce is one sauce you should try on your summer meat dishes this month. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, Honey Bear’s is capturing the hearts of sauce lovers with their Southern Tennessee-style BBQ flavors. If this sauce doesn’t have enough heat or spice, try adding their seasoning salt to your marinated meats as well. 

Ken Davis BBQ Sauce 

Influenced by the jazz bassist and entrepreneur from Nebraska named Ken Davis, this BBQ sauce once never tasted the same but always tasted delicious. With help from his grandmother and his love for flavor, now, the Ken Davis BBQ sauce is made consistently with love and hearty flavors that is sure to taste good on chicken, burgers, hot dogs or brats.
