Today we are featuring a Black Southern Belle mother-daughter duo who owns a seafood restaurant in Winston, Salem, NC. Virginia and Ashley Hardesty are the Black Southern Belles behind Forsyth SeafoodA�in Winston-Salem, NC. Forsyth Seafood is a fresh to direct seafood market and cafe which has strong roots in Eastern North Carolina food traditions, with the founders having original roots in Beaufort, NC. Here is some information about the women behind Forsyth Seafood:A�

Virginia Louise Oden Hardesty was born in Beaufort, North Carolina. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics Education from North Carolina A&T State University in 1979. In 1984, she obtained a Masters in Business Administration from Wake Forest University. In 1998, she left the corporate world to join with her husband in the expansion of their business, Forsyth Seafood Market & Grill, as they opened their second location. Her husband, the late Charlie Hardesty, and she had started the business in 1984 and had diligently and successfully grown the business to the best seafood location in North Carolina and the east coast.

Ashley Hardesty is a resident of Winston Salem, North Carolina. She received a B.S. in Fashion Textile Management and Brand Marketing in 2013 from North Carolina State University. Since graduating, she has walked in her parenta��s restaurant footsteps and become the Co-Owner as well as Marketing and Visual Coordinator for Forsyth Seafood Market & Cafe.

With a focus on healthy living as it pertains to the food industry, Ashley in 2015 obtained the credentials of a Certified Nutritional Coach, F.N.C.from IFTA in Raleigh, North Carolina with endeavors to further her person brand, a Health and Wellness concierge service.

 

 

 

We also asked the founders for a few of their favorite facts about Forsyth Seafood and here is what they had to say:
1. We are a 100 seater casual dining restaurant & full service seafood market located in Winston Salem, NC.
2. The business was established in 1984A�by Virginia Hardesty &A�the late Charlie Hardesty, who began their business by selling fresh shrimp at a local flea market.
3. We are one of the few African American owned seafood establishments on the east coast specializing in cut & cook to order.
4. Our slogan is “The Best You Ever Tasted” and it reigns true!
5. We carry 28 different types of wild caught fish, mollusk, and live Blue Crab in our fresh A�market

6. We are located only 2 blocks from the campus of Winston Salem State University.
