Supporting our BSBs: Terri Baskin - Picture This Belle 7

As someone who has lived in the Richmond area, I know there is something special about the there. Today we are featuring Terri Baskin, a BSB who takes it to another level. Her missions is to display love in every form through photography and she does it with style grace and true southern values. Learn more about her and her business below:

Business Name:

Terri Baskin Photography

What You Provide:

Engagement, Wedding and Anniversary Photography

Where are you based?

Richmond, Virginia

Why did you decide to start a business?

I’ve always had a love of photography. My dad was a wedding photography and growing up I would wait for him to come home from weddings and hang out with him as he developed his rolls of film in his darkroom located in the lower level of our home.

What is your favorite client story?

Oh gosh, I have so many favorites that it’s hard to choose. What I love most about my clients is how they incorporate their lives and relationships into their photo story. I encourage clients that are taking engagement photos to make it personal and about their relationship instead of just following the current trend. I love when clients tell their story because it makes people connect to their images more. When clients’ make the wedding, engagement or anniversary session personal, it makes me enjoy what I do and by nature becomes a favorite for me!

What is your website?

www.terribaskin.com

Who are some of your business idols?

Gosh, I don’t know that I have any idols, but I admire the work of many photographers.

Do you have any mentors?

I’ve mentored with several established photographers in the wedding industry but I do not currently have an ongoing mentor relationship with anyone. However, my dad still occasionally coaches me on composition!

What is your favorite thing about being southern?

The people! People are genuinely nice and take the time to enjoy life when they can. That’s something that I often take for granted living in a fast-paced environment as Northern Virginia.

What is your favorite southern dish?

Peach Cobbler, Red Velvet Cake, Fried Chicken,..I guess I have more than one favorite!

What is the most important thing you have done to build your business?

Taking care of my past clients has led to much of my current and future business from their referrals. I think that has been my best source of new business.

What are your favorite southern brands?

I was recently introduced to wine from Duplin Winery and I fell in love with their Sweet Red Table Wine!

What is your favorite item or piece of clothing to wear/use while doing business?

During an engagement or anniversary session, I love to wear skinny jeans, a graphic t-shirt and a blazer with my Tory Burch flats. During the warmer months, I may wear a sun dress and flats for comfort. During weddings, I love to wear dresses because it makes me feel like a guest and more professional.

I am sooo happy to feature Terri on the site. I love her photography and can’t wait to see all of the wonderful weddings she continues to shoot. We wish her and her business the best and if you are getting married in the Virginia area, make sure to check her out!

XOXO
