She is North Carolina born and Georgia raised; he is a Marylander through and through. This young couple — like many southern beaus and belles— found love on the campus of a historically black college/university. She is Spelman. He is Morehouse. Yes, she+he= SpelHouse. But wait, this 21st century love story doesn’t end here, it gets better… she is an attorney with a passion for social, civil, and human rights and he a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated— is a medical student at the nation’s paramount medical school in the South for African Americans. These two young professionals have grown together and have become an example and embodiment of true love and happiness. Learning to navigate through life together and in a new and unfamiliar city can be challenging for the most seasoned couple, but these two– “Mimi and Curtis”, as they affectionately refer to each other make, have tapped into their faith and continue despite what challenges come their way to defy the odds.
