What do you love about Charleston?

I love Charleston because this is home; this is where I grew up. I love what a social city this place is.  The water being surrounded by it and it’s so easy to go.

Favorite southern food/why?

Anything with cheese! Cheese is my favorite food group.  Pimento cheese would have to be my favorite. When I lived in Portland, that was one of the things I missed most.

Why you started your business?

I didn’t always know I wanted to own a beauty store. I spent six years in Oregon working as a Pacemaker representative.  I had fallen in love with a place called Blush, it wasn’t just a beauty store to me, it became my destination after a long day of work in the hospital.  When I moved back to Charleston I couldn’t find the brands I had fallen in love with anywhere in town let alone anywhere in the state! I was looking for an environment and a product offering that wasn’t available in Charleston.  I wanted a place like the one in Portland where I could be introduced to lines I’d never heard of and learn about them.  So I began to create Pink Dot.

Your favorite southern brands/why?

Maya Chia- A Charleston-based skincare line that we carry at Pink Dot.  It is incredibly nourishing and hydrating.  I love how all of their products smell!

Bourbon & Bowties- I love a good arm party!

Troubadour- It’s a line from Charleston carried in Anthropologie, which is my favorite store, but the line is just so beautiful!

Taxidermy- Her line of accessories is so BAD A**
