Mobile’s Black Mardi Gras: Images of MAMGA

Although Mardi Gras season has come to a close, we are excited to share images of the Mardi Gras in Mobile, AL. The Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association Inc. (MAMGA), is a premier organization comprised of prominent businessmen and civic leaders, showcases the best in the Mobile community, and the entire Gulf Coast.

The organization is proud to continue a tradition of presenting 81 years of magnificent cultural and street fanfare for the entire World to see during Mobile’s Carnival season. This Mardi Gras parade is full of African American and Southern culture and we are honored to share these beautiful images provided by Teniade Broughton, a true Black Southern Belle from Pensacola, Florida. Check out these images of living history of The Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association Inc. (MAMGA) below.

Such a beautiful image of the founding year of MAMGA also known as the original Mardi Gras. A great way to watch the parade in style.

We love these beautiful murals on the parade floats. Such rich culture and artistic style represented in this parade.

This mural of the historic African American monuments of Mobile, AL is a true work of art.

This is what we call true Mardi Gras style. What is coastal Alabama style without a pineapple print 🙂

This float is self explanatory. Love the creativity by this group and the homage of the local area DJ to a true musical legend in African American culture.

If you are going to head to Mardi Gras, you better head out in style.

Such a beautiful image of the official MAMGA float. Such a beautiful display of living history.

There is just as much fun on sidewalks as there is on the floats at Mardi Gras in Mobile.

This cowboy style is definitely a look we want to add to our closets.

Another beautiful parade float. Would not mind having a print of this float in my office or lady’s lounge.

We love seeing the vibrant floats of the different Mardi Gras krewes.

Such a fun piece of art on display by this float. A perfect piece of art for a little boys room.

The folks on this float are having a good time driving through the streets of Mobile.

The mural on this building is stunning and makes us definitely want to add MAMGA to our travel list!
