Emancipation Proclamation Association of Charleston announces the 160th Emancipation Proclamation Annual Parade

Looking for a unique experience for New Year’s Day full of history and heritage? Add Charleston, SC to your list and head to the Emancipation Proclamation Annual Parade. Organized by the Emancipation Proclamation Association of Charleston, this annual event is celebrating its 160th year anniversary and is a great experience for a family or a solo trip to experience the rich black heritage and history of the Lowcountry.

This year’s theme is “Reimagining Freedom” and the EPA welcomes Gullah Geechee native Black Panther Actor, Cyrus Birch II as this year’s Grand Marshall!

This event is in partnership with the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor NHA and the International African American Museum, during our corridor-wide Watch Night + Emancipation Celebration!

Stay tuned for updates of events for the December 31 and January 1 celebrations!
