Gullah Traveling Theater Adds Third Show for ‘Da Gullah American Revolutionary Experience

Due to overwhelming public demand, Gullah Traveling Theater, Inc. (GTTI) is thrilled to announce the addition of a third performance of its highly anticipated premiere of its original production, Da’ Gullah American Revolutionary Experience, at the May River Theater.

The 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM premiere on Saturday, July 19, 2025, is officially SOLD OUT. To meet the high level of community interest, a new matinee performance has been added for Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 3:00 PM.

This Sunday matinee will offer audiences another opportunity to experience the stirring stories, soulful rhythms, and rich history of Gullah contributions to America’s fight for independence.

About the Production

Written and directed by acclaimed storyteller Anita Singleton Prather, Da’ Gullah American Revolutionary Experience explores the pivotal roles Gullah people played during the American Revolution. Audiences will join the beloved Aunt Pearlie Sue and the Gullah Kinfolk as they bring to life untold stories of freedom, resilience, and cultural genius—through music, dance, and dramatic vignettes.This new chapter of GTTI’s Circle Unbroken Series highlights Gullah mastery in rice cultivation, indigo dyeing, blacksmithing, and carpentry—all vital skills that shaped colonial wealth and fueled revolutionary change.
