What is your favorite room in your home?

AMy favorite room in my home by far is my master bathroom. I love everything about it.A From the Carrara subway tile in the shower, and the cement tile floors to the amazing deep soaking tub. It truly is my sanctuary!

For the holidays, what are some of your favorite decor pieces to incorporate?A

I love Christmas and it is my favorite time of the year to decorate. My husband and I with our two daughters, Taryn and Kennedy love to shop for the Christmas tree. We usually select a 10 ft Frayser fir from Whole Foods garden department and decorate the tree together. I’ve collected many ornaments over the years but my favorite part of the tree decor is the tulle Garland . It’s dresses the tree up beautifully with little effort.

How would you describe your home decor style?

AMy decor style for my home is definitely eclectic . I love mixing antiques with traditional and French inspired pieces. I really love mixing metals and painted furniture finishes.A It delivers a look that is current yet timeless. Each room in my home has a different yetA cohesive style.

What is your favorite piece of art in your home and why?

I have several art pieces that are special to me but one in particular I love was painted by my husband Terrell. It is an abstract that has rich gem tones of blues and greens. I love it because it reminds me of lying on the beach and watching the ocean waves. It appears to dance to me.

Did your mother inspire any of the pieces in your home?

Growing up I can remember that my mother always kept a very clean, warm and welcoming home . I lot of my design style is inspired from my mom. For example, my mother love rugs. We had beautiful hardwood floors and my mother kept lovely rugs in each room. I find myself collecting beautiful rugs to display in my home like my mom.

What is your motto when it comes to decorating your home?

My decorating motto is ‘ buy great pieces that you love and decorate around it’. Your furnishing should be of great quality that will stand the test of time. You can save money on the accessories, but your statement pieces must be good quality. For example, my Marsh Carson sofa I purchased 24 years ago still looks amazing in my living room.

Did you do any DIY projects in your home? If so, what did you do?

ABoy do I have several DIY projects in my home. To name a few, I recently painted my antique armoire and Duncan Phyfe sofa in my bedroom. I also distress painted the shiplap on the ceiling of my bedroom. My husband built my sliding barn door and wardrobe closet in my master bedroom. My favorite DIY project that we did was my kitchen island.A It was repurposed from a China hutch.

What are some uniquely southern items in your home?

My southern furniture style is reflected on my front porch. I have two shaker rocking chairs and a porch swing. I also have two huge ferns that adorn each side of my porch entry.

How does living in the south affect your home decor style?

ALiving in the south has influence my decorating style in many ways. Hospitality is big in the south, so I wanted to make my home warm and inviting. This include having a formal living room and dining room with lots of seating for entertaining. Also chandeliers! Southern homes must have at least one chandelier lol. I have six chandeliers which three are included in my bathrooms.

Do you utilize local furniture brands?

As far as local furniture brands, my furniture is from all over the world. I acquired many of my furniture pieces from auctions and estate sales in our travels. However, I do have a few local shops that I love to find treasures including Frugal finds and Worlds Away LLC .

Do you have any family heirlooms? If so, what and tell us more about them?

AMost of my family heirlooms are family photos and picture frames. However, I recently acquired my grandmother’s china cabinet that is over 80 years old that I am restoring.

What are some of your motheras home decor traits or styles that you inherited?

I inherit my mother’s style for decorating using family photos. I have photos displayed on my bookshelves and tabletops in most rooms in my home.

What is your fondest memory or home decor shopping with your husband?

AMy fondest memory shopping for decor with my husband has to be right after we bought our home. We would travel to various auctions and he hated for me to get in a bidding war lol. He knew that when I wanted a piece I wasn’t going to leave that auction without it!

In your kitchen, what piece of decor is the most functional and stylish and why?

I love my kitchen and my kitchen island by far is the best and most functional piece. It is storage, a cook top, a bar, counter top and centerpiece.
