How to Live a Hypoallergenic Lifestyle from Robin Wilson

Home decor is truly what makes a home. However, creating a true Southern home is more work than most Southern Belles can imagine. Finding pieces that match our Southern soul and unique personality is sometimes a stressor because of the detail we seek. Many of us are aware of specific items that we need in our home to complete it, but finding them is a very tedious process. Today, I am going to recommend a few items and tips created by a Black Southern Belle herself that will help you add the missing touch you have been searching for.

Robin Wilson

Ms. Robin Wilson, Austin, Texas native is aware of styling on a budget and finding home decor items that are classic touches. In a family where she watched her grandmother make quilts and window treatments, she began to understand how hand made items are more valuable and sentimental when placed in one’s home. As she grew up, she began experimenting and became fond of  mixing modern pieces of furniture with classic pieces of furniture. Her curiosity led her to create a furniture line to display her findings and love for mixing and matching.

From the early 2000s, Robin Wilson began to turn her passion for decor and Southern home necessities into a full-time career. Early on she became the first woman to have a customer cabinetry line sold at 400 dealers nationwide and later became the second black woman to have a textile line at Bed Bath & Beyond. As a driven entrepreneur and pioneer for eco-friendly design, Robin Wilson turned her design aesthetic into a full home line. Robin Wilson Home is a lifestyle brand that features a hypoallergenic line of textiles, luxurious towels, and custom cabintery. As a Southern Belle aware of the most common needs to make a home just more comfortable, she provided many of us with items that can be found at her online store.

Tip 1:Up-Cycle Vintage Furniture

Robin Wilson says “Consider brown furniture. So many people pass up the great antiques that may have a scratch or may not be the “current” trend color, but this furniture is often well-built and inexpensive…you might be able to get an amazing piece of ‘real wood’ furniture at a great price and ‘up-cycle’ a piece instead of it going into the landfill.”

Tip 2: Give Your Future Self A Gift

In this statement, Ms. Wilson implies that it feels great ending a day and coming home to made up bed or an organized lingerie and sock drawer. She suggests making your bed before leaving is a gift that awaits you when you arrive. Also, organization is key to make your morning routine that much smoother.

Tip 3: Robin Four Principles of Design
