April 9th, with plans for brand expansion in new markets.

April 4th, 2022, Newark, New Jersey The Newark Historical Renaissance Ride (NHRR) hosts a
Historic Costumed Cherry Blossom Bicycle Ride. A short 6-mile ride route beginning at Military
Park to Branch Brook Park and back to the starting point of Military Park is a leisurely guided
bike excursion, during cherry blossom peak bloom. Led by NHRR’s co-founder & historian
Hassan Abdus-Sabur with recurrent scenic selfie and photo pitstops, the tour features perfectly
timed breaks at some of Newark’s most historic landmarks. “This year, we all agreed that it was
important to dedicate the Cherry Blossom Ride event to the women who are glue in our groups,
communities, and families” says Abdus-Sabur
The cycle route concludes with a complimentary post-ride Afternoon Tea, followed by a lunch
award ceremony sponsored by The Yard featuring rider-favorited contests for Best Bike, Best
Dressed, Best Hat, Best Mustache or Beard, Best Hash tagged Photo and the Renaissance Ride
History Maker Honoree Awards. Founded to accentuate the cultural and historic heritage of
Newark, New Jersey, the organization celebrates 10 years in 2023. The event highlights
Newark’s great outdoors, biking advocacy and sustainability, the cities rich history, architecture,
sartorial style, music and art.

Bird Bike will sponsor a community bike-helmet giveaway and also allow participants an
opportunity to reserve e-Bikes or scooters at the NHRR website (while supplies last). Riders can
recharge while experiencing a historic Newark mansion with the Refresh and Ride stop
sponsored by Newark Foundry founder, Alan Suarez.

“Renaissance Riders” arrive in festive Harlem Renaissance period attire, stylish Seersucker and
Linens in the summer and Tweeds for the fall events. “When Renaissance Riders shine, Newark
shines” says co-founder Paul Chinnery when asked about the importance of documenting the
much-anticipated cultural-sartorial event.

Newark’s Central Ward /old 3rd Ward Councilwoman LaMonica McIver leads the ride as
Honorary Bike Marshall. Vice President of Urban Innovation at Audible, Aisha Glover, will
ring the official opening bell. Deputy Mayor, Director of Economic and Housing Development,
Allison Ladd, opens the post-ride awards ceremony celebrating impactful women of our
community. This year’s Renaissance Ride History Maker Honorees are Gabe Baltimore
Basketball Coach, East Orange High School, Laura Bonas, Akwaaba Gallery and Marco
Germano, Newark Bicycle Coop.

“We’ve managed to produce Newark-centric experiential events during our first 10 years using
our creativity and an even more creative budget, but we are absolutely excited for partnerships
on the horizon and look forward to collaborating with businesses and sponsors who are invested
in the Newark community to bring greater awareness to the gem that Newark is and the
opportunity it presents for its residents and investors” says co-Founder Delanie West.
