Fall Entertaining Fun: How to a Host A Veteran’s Day Tribute to African American Veterans

As the daughter of a Navy veteran, I grew up attending birthday parties, holiday events, and social gatherings, either on a military base or with a group of military veterans. With Veterans Day around the corner, I was inspired to develop a Veterans Day-inspired party honoring African American Veterans, many of which are HBCU alum. We can’t wait to see the memories you make and the traditions you pass down on social media, be sure to share with the hashtag #blacksouthernbelle.

These military thermals are a great party favor to celebrate the Veterans in your life. A coffee station is an interactive way for your guests to mingle and pairs perfectly with desserts.

Military Inspired Stationery:

My love of stationery and thank you cards came from the number one Veteran in my life, my dad. You can use red, white and blue as the color scheme and incorporate memories of the Veterans in your life or military facts such as the HBCUs with ROTC programs.

Veteran Gallery Wall Inspiration:

I collect military art and love have it hanging on my wall. If you want to create an instant photo station, a gallery wall of your favorite military-inspired items is a great way to start. Using photos, flags and frames, you have a gallery wall your guests won’t forget.

Red, White & Blue Buffet Table:

We always find a reason to set the table in the South. With the patriotic theme in place, I used a variety of linen napkins, candle holders and dishware to create a distinctive Veteran’s Day party look.

Red, White & Blue Sugar Cane Soda Vignette:

A snack station is always a fun way to display food and beverage for your guests. For this station, we chose artisan chocolates, as well as sweet, cane sugar sodas.
