A Pillar of the Southern Design Community

A Legacy of Light and Design: Remembering Mackenzie Johnson
Known for her impeccable professional grace and her ability to foster meaningful connections, Mackenzie was more than a marketing executive; she was a bridge-builder between designers, showrooms, and the public. Her work extended far beyond the walls of ADAC, supporting design communities across ten states, including Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Virginia.
A Partnership Rooted in Purpose
Mackenzie’s advocacy for (BSB) began in 2018, when she helped bring the “Your Office, Your Brand and More” event to life at ADAC. Over the years, she remained a vital partner to BSB, most recently working on the “Heritage at Home: The Kitchen Edition” summit.
Her dedication to inclusivity and her passion for highlighting diverse voices in the industry were evident in every project she touched. She was instrumental in coordinating showroom tours, interactive workshops, and panel discussions that empowered both established professionals and emerging designers.

Excellence in Every Detail
Throughout her tenure at ADAC, Mackenzie managed signature events that became cornerstones of the industry, such as DISCOVER ADAC, Design ADAC, and the Southeast Designer of the Year (SEDY) awards. Her attention to detail was legendary, from managing high-stakes print deadlines to ensuring every guest felt welcomed in the ADAC Presentation Room.
Those who worked with her recall her “beautiful and thoughtful” approach to planning and her unwavering support for her colleagues and partners. Whether she was advising on showroom sponsorships or coordinating press inquiries for radio features, Mackenzie led with kindness and expertise.
Continuing the Vision
While we mourn the loss of a brilliant mind and a kind soul, Mackenzie Johnson’s impact will continue to be felt in every showroom she supported and every designer she inspired. Her commitment to excellence and her love for the South’s rich design heritage remain a guiding light for the community she loved so dearly.
In honor of her life, we celebrate the spaces she helped create, the relationships she nurtured, and the indelible mark she left on the heart of Atlanta’s design world.
