Why did you start your business?
I started Snag My Wedding in 2012 after being in my cousin’s wedding and seeing all the decor, dresses, table toppings, etc. that were only used for one day. That was when the idea hit me! Why couldn’t another bride just buy the entire wedding once it was over?
How do you think technology has changed the wedding industry?
The biggest change I have seen from wedding technology is the ability to plan a wedding right from your phone. If you know what you want, social media sites like Pinterest and Instagram are a bride’s best friend.
What is the most challenging professional obstacle you have had?
The most challenging part for me has been marketing. When I first began the business I envisioned all the ways I would advertise to brides and brides-to-be, but what I didn’t plan for was how busy they would already be. Getting them to find time to get on the website and post their wedding items for sale has been a challenge.
Who is your favorite character from “A Different World”?
My favorite character from“A Different World” was Kimberly. I always looked up to her for working her way through school and her loyalty to her friends.
What do you love about southern weddings?
Southern weddings are all about friends, family and good food, which makes them all the more fun to attend and celebrate.
Where do like to vacation in the south when you are not growing your business? Why?
I’m in love with New Orleans right now as my vacation spot. Every time I go there I find something new to do, see or eat. If you want to relax in the Garden District you can. If you’re looking for something to do late night and people watch, Cafe Du Monde is open 24 hours! Love the city and the history that goes along with it.
What is your favorite southern food?
My favorite meal of the day is breakfast. Anytime I see shrimp and grits on the menu, I order it.
What do you love about being southern?
Being southern to me means family. I love the fact that I’m from a large family, so getting together is always fun and of course the food is amazing.
What is your life motto?
I’m very much someone who takes notice of the moment I’m in and lives in it. My favorite motto would have to be “What would you do if you weren’t afraid?”

What are your favorite southern bridal brands?
I’m not sure if I have a favorite brand as much I have my favorite blogs/websites, which are essentially brands. Of course #Black Southern Belle, then to name few more: Pearl Events Austin, Winnie Couture Dallas and Chic Brown Bride. The wealth of information that these websites provide is so helpful to me and my business.
What piece of clothing can you not live without? Why?
My go-to piece of clothing to dress any outfit up is a blazer. I have lots of colors and prints, so I’m always adding a blazer to my wardrobe to keep my closet interesting..
