Holiday Heritage: Easy Desserts to Add to Your Holiday Menus

The end of the year is the most festive and flavorful time of the year. From November to December is where Black Southern Belles put on their chef hat and whip up an array of desserts.  Whether it’s classic cakes and pies or seasonal favorites such as apple fritters and sweet potato dishes, the holidays are the time of year where everyone’s sweet tooth is satisfied. Here are a few classic yet rare desserts that should be created this holiday season.

Holiday Heritage: Easy Desserts to Add to Your Holiday Menus

  1. Poached Pears

Almost any firm fruit with tons of natural juices can be poached and Florida Crystals provides a recipe for poached pears that I know you and your family will enjoy. Drenched in simple syrup with orange and spices and with sweet ingredients like the Florida Crystals organic raw cane sugar and of course ripped pears, this dish is an ideal dessert for the fall and winter season. So, pick the right pears and get your recipe started!

  1.  Baked Apple Donuts

Want the crisp smell of apple to infuse your home? If so, then the Baked Apple Donuts recipe from Florida Crystals is what you need. Combine your simple donut ingredients and top with an apple cider glaze made from Florida Crystals organic powdered raw cane sugar, apple cider, and vanilla extract and watch how the people in your home mouth begin to water. Top with sweet chopped almonds and enjoy!

  1. Apple Fritters

A Southern favorite and a classic dessert many of us enjoy are apple fritters. Filled with granny smith apples, Florida Crystals organic raw cane sugar, and cinnamon, these sweet and crisp packages of flavor should be included in your dessert list this holiday season. Make a sweet glaze to contrast with the apples and watch how everyone goes back for seconds. 1. Vegan Cookies

Sugar cookies with holiday designs are staple food items at every holiday function. Small Santa Claus cookies or Christmas Tree shaped cookies are always a great addition for the holidays. However, Florida Crystal is providing sugar cookies with a healthier vegan twist. Still able to showcase your favorite holiday design, these vegan sugar cookies have more flavor than you can expect. Check out the twist for the sugar cookie recipe and start preparing a few cookies to decorate on Christmas Eve.

  1. Organic Pumpkin Cheesecake Mousse

Pudding, mouse, and custards are quick and easy desserts that Southern Belles, along with their children, can whip up. As a child, I loved being assigned to mixing up the whipping cream and this organic pumpkin cheesecake mousse recipe is what I know many kids will love to participate in. Flavored with a fall favorite, pumpkin, and the best topping for most desserts, whip cream, this recipe is definitely a must-try for the holiday season. So, grab the little ones and put them to work for this dessert treat!

  1.  Pumpkin Brownie Bark

A quick 10 minute recipe by Florida Crystals is the Pumpkin Brownie Bark. Infused with pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and pumpkin seeds, this fall recipe is fit for the holiday season and also a great snack to munch on throughout the day. So follow the Florida Crystal recipe and make a batch of brownie bark to share with your guests, family, and friends.

As Winter comes into a full swing, we hope that you can incorporate these sweet treats and Florida Crystal flavorful suggestions into your holiday dessert list. Once you create any of these dishes share your results with us and also send over some of your favorite holiday food items so we can share them with our Black Southern Belle community.
