How did you meet?
During the first week of freshman year, my friends and I were talking in my dorm suite when Matt and his friends walked in. He stayed after his friends left and we talked that entire night .
How long have you dated?
5 years
How did he propose?
On my birthday, Matt took me to Hopeland gardens, where we spent a lot of time during college. As we starting waking around the garden, Matt took me to my favorite spot between two oak trees and my two best friends came out to surprise me. When I turned around, Matt was on his knee with a beautiful ring.
When did you know he was the one?
When I was younger, I would pray for my future spouse and I would end it with, “I thank you for a man that will love me for me.” I knew that Matt was the one when we were talking and he began to tell me how he felt about me and he ended it with “I love you for you.
What is the cutest thing he has done for you without you asking?
During a snow storm, we were stuck in our dorm and I was craving some vanilla ice cream with gummy bears. So Matt went out and got me the biggest tub of ice cream and a bag of gummy bears just because.
What is something you love about him that has completely changed your life?
I love the way that he supports me. Whether it meant standing up for 12 hours to support the local children’s hospital in our university’s Dance Marathon, or helping me study for my hard nursing exams, he was always there. That support has helped me become a better person in my personal life and in my career.
What part of wedding planning is making you crazy?
The little details like where people will sit or what centerpieces to use make wedding planning crazy.
What part of wedding planning can you not live without?
I cannot live without the food.
What was your first thought the day after your engagement?
I really need to get a manicure.
What did you love about taking engagement pictures?
Each place that we went brought back so many memories of when we first started dating.
Who did you tell first about your engagement?
My mom was the first to know!
Are you used to the ring yet?
I’m getting used to it. Sometimes I’ll look down and see my ring and get excited all over again.
How many times do you accidentally say girlfriend instead of fiance in a day?
At least 3 times.
